Armor Refining Guideline

So, I've been trying to find a list that shows the bonuses for refining armor, but couldn't find one. Now, I've just gotten fed up and did it myself, it's simple but it works.

Here is how you find what you're armor bonus will be once it has been upgraded.

  • Base X
  • +01 -- X+0 (+0 AR)
  • +02 -- X+1 (+1 AR)
  • +03 -- X+2 (+2 AR)
  • +04 -- X+2 (+2 AR)
  • +05 -- X+3 (+3 AR)
  • +06 -- X+4 (+4 AR)
  • +07 -- X+5 (+5 AR)
  • +08 -- X+5 (+5 AR)
  • +09 -- X+6 (+6 AR)
  • +10 -- X+7 (+7 AR)

{Example}

  • Helm
    Armor Rating
  • Base 6
  • +01 -- 06 (+0 AR)
  • +02 -- 07 (+1 AR)
  • +03 -- 08 (+2 AR)
  • +04 -- 08 (+2 AR)
  • +05 -- 09 (+3 AR)
  • +06 -- 10 (+4 AR)
  • +07 -- 11 (+5 AR)
  • +08 -- 11 (+5 AR)
  • +09 -- 12 (+6 AR)
  • +10 -- 13 (+7 AR)

Before anyone asks, yes I HAVE tested this up to +8 armor with my LK, it worked for all of my armor so I'm assuming it works for all armor period.

I'm not sure about +9 and +10, as I have yet to get my armor upgraded that high thus far. (Stupid Hollengrhen...)

Edit: +9 and +10 confirmed.

how about this:

Base armor defense+ refining rate X 0.69(.69 is correct?)

Over-upgraded armor and upgraded armor have different armor calculation increases. Over-Upgraded armor and Upgraded Armor don't increment their armor bonus linearly.

+1-4 = +.7 DEF

+5-10 = +.4 DEF

For refinement of armor +1~+4 you will gain a +.7 ArmorDEF bonus. For over-upgraded armor +5~+10 you will gain a +.4 AmorDEF bonus. Therefor a +10 item has a 5.2 total ArmorDEF bonus.

If this were the case then the table would be as thus. (Assuming the armor rating isn't rounded up.)

00 -- 0.0 -- +0

01 -- 0.7 -- +0

02 -- 1.4 -- +1

03 -- 2.1 -- +2

04 -- 2.8 -- +2

05 -- 3.2 -- +3

06 -- 3.6 -- +3

07 -- 4.0 -- +4

08 -- 4.4 -- +4

09 -- 4.8 -- +4

10 -- 5.2 -- +5

And assuming it is...

00 -- 0.0 -- +0

01 -- 0.7 -- +1

02 -- 1.4 -- +1

03 -- 2.1 -- +2

04 -- 2.8 -- +3

05 -- 3.2 -- +3

06 -- 3.6 -- +4

07 -- 4.0 -- +4

08 -- 4.4 -- +4

09 -- 4.8 -- +5

10 -- 5.2 -- +5

Both of which contradict the proof that I have found in game as my +7 Helm gives me an armor increase of 11 with a base of 6, meaning it is getting a +5 bonus when your calculations claim it would only be 4.

.

Same here oO"

.

.

And, the "0.x" makes any diference?

.

Lets say I got 60 def using a combination of over-upgraded itens with +7..

07 -- 4.0 -- +4

If I get one of then over-upgraded ONE MORE (+8)

08 -- 4.4 -- +4

This 0.4 defense plus I got will do any diference in the amout damage I take?

.

If it doesn't, AND assuming the armor rating IS rounded up, there is no point in making +10armor if there is no bonus for refinement.

09 -- 4.8 -- +5

10 -- 5.2 -- +5

.

oo''

Formal Suit

Def 5

Glitering Jacket

Def 7

Unless there is a hidden def bonus (e.g. 5.2 / 7.4), there is no difference between the over-upgrade def bonus.

^^ That's what I think... I can be wrong ^^ Wait for RedXIII to answer...

I'm keeping an eye here too, about my question.

Well... are you talking about the chances to over-upgrade equips?

According to my guide here, the true value of your armor defenses is calculated as follows: ItemArmor+Refinements*2/3.

The value displayed on your character status window is not the true value of your defenses (some malformed formula I can imagine).

DEF -

DEF is your ability to reduce damage inflicted on you.

The true value of Armor Def(Left) is ItemArmor+Refinements*2/3.

The true value of your VIT Def(Right) is: RND(VIT*.5)+ RAND( RND(VIT*.3) ~ MAX(RND(VIT*.3) & RND(VIT^2/150)-1))

where take the larger of MAX(x,y) and find a number between RAND(x,y).

DEF cannot reduce damage below 1 point.

So, it will be like:

+7 Glitering Jacket[1]

Glittering_Jacket.gif

7(Def) + 7(Refinement) * 2/3

35 / 3 = 11 / 2/3 = 11,6666 (just 11)

I did a In-Game test...

my original def (without any armor) = 28

with a +7Glitering Jacket[1] = 39

11, just like the math above xD

.

I didn't know about your guide RedXII ^^

WOW, a lot of new info

Thanks! That answers my question too ^^

I went looking for a server with a 100% refine rate and confirmed the +9 upgrade giving +6 armor, and +10 giving +7 armor. In the Status Window at least. So, did we find out if the window is right or not? I kinda lost track...

  • 2 weeks later...

@Ðeimøs Kerberøs

oo.. so the more normal def will result more additional def?

nice2.. thx again..

for the 2nd quote.. yes.. the refining chance.. coz.. i got lots of char and acc..

so i had try something.. i had using 1st class job to refine..

it is easier to get +9 eqs (i mean a bit easier).. like glit jack..

but when i try with 2nd class n upper and it really suck..

is that make sense with the job? or it make sense with the playing time?

coz some forum said the more u play with the certain char will result higher chance on refining.. @[email protected]

just wanna asking.. sorry if im wrong..

Never heard anything about that ^^

Myth maybe? oo Since there are some equips that only reborn classes can wear (e.g. V.Armor)

.

And don't be sorry man XD~ Asking questions means that you want to learn ^^
